James Newton

James Newton, Director of Credit, assists the expansion of Trinity’s London platform.

James joined Trinity from HSBC Innovation Banking (formerly SVB UK) where he held various roles, from growth stage venture lending to sponsor backed leveraged buyouts.

Prior to his 7 years at SVB UK, James started his career in Wells Fargo’s London Capital Finance team, managing a portfolio of technology companies as well as more traditional asset-heavy businesses.

James graduated from The University of Sheffield with a degree in Business Management and Economics.

Being a UK native, James’ natural passions include soccer (or “football” as he calls it) and rugby, though he has recently started getting interested in NFL. James also enjoys travelling, taking long country walks, and frequently competes in a well-known tabletop game – being ranked in the top 10% globally.

 

Brown’s 30 years of experience in venture equity and venture debt is apparent in his ability to adeptly manage sales and strategic business operations working with early-stage companies.

He served as general partner at Point Financial Capital Partners, a venture leasing fund and held a prior role as the president and CFO of InvestLinc Financial Services, an early-stage private equity fund and consulting firm. He has also worked as a partner at Cornerstone Equity Partners, a private equity fund.

Brown has a B.S. in business administration and marketing from McNeese State University and is a current Small Business Investor Alliance – Western Regional Committee member.
